Interviewer: Would you kill the animals you eat?

Woman: No I wouldn't, but I don't have to kill to eat meat, so I eat it. And I don't see that as murder.

Mother of Girl: I think morally I would be a vegetarian but when you're used to eating meat your whole life it's hard. I think eventually as we evolve we probably won't eat meat, mostly just fruits and vegetables. It's hard to say, but then again I don't believe in killing. I wouldn't do the killing myself. Yeah I think it's awful to kill an animal especially when there's so many other things to eat.

Girl: If they go ahead and kill it you might as well eat it. I think that, like they shouldn't kill the babies, they should kill the ones that are like about to die or like when they die you should eat it, not while they're living... cause it's better... cause it's not cruel that way. If it dies first it's not as bad as killing it to eat it. But it's like, they say you have to eat meat or else it's bad for you. Because you have to eat meat to have your protein. Like every friend that I know that are vegetarian even eat a little bit of chicken even though they are vegetarian.

Interviewer: But wait a minute, chickens are not vegetables.

Girl: No, what I mean is, if you're vegetarian you still have to eat a little bit of meat just to like, have a lot of protein.

Interviewer: But that's not a vegetarian if you're eating meat.

Girl: Well, not if you just like eat a little.

Interviewer: So that would mean you'd have to do just a little killing then huh?

Girl: Well yeah, not like just killing, killing and killing. Just if it's sick or it needs to be put to death for some kind of reason, not to eat but... It's like it goes to death just naturally, you might as well eat it.

Cerissa: I became a vegetarian because of the pictures I saw at Interviewer booth. It made me sick, I can't eat these poor animals.

Interviewer: So you haven't eaten any meat since you talked to Interviewer about it huh?

Cerissa: Nope, I have not touched any meat at all. I won't eat an egg, makes me sick to my stomach. These animals don't need to be killed so we can eat them. We've got other things we can eat, vegetables, fruits, and stuff. I think everyone should know what's going on. I think it's to bad that people don't know. I think everyone should come here and see these pictures. I'll be in the grocery store and I'll look at meat and I'm just like... you know what they do to get that? They should have a big picture of a slaughtered cow like right there with all the meat and I betcha' no one would by that meat because it's just sick! But I don't think people know exactly what goes on, like how it happens. They just don't know the truth.

Interviewer: Would you kill that cow you're eating?

Boy: No, but I'd let McDonald's do it for me.

Interviewer: So what if McDonald's didn't do the killing for you? Then what would you do?

Boy: I'd let Burger King do it.

Interviewer: No... c'mon now, stop copping out. What if no one would do it and you had to do it yourself?

Boy: Then I wouldn't do it. But McDonald's and Burger King kill the cows for me and it's good... here want some?

Interviewer: What's your view on eating animals?

Fishetarian dude: I'm a hypocrite, I eat meat, but it's very disturbing what people do to animals.

Interviewer: So when it comes down to it, would you do the killing?

Fishetarian dude: Well, I do fish, fish I can do. But other animals I don't know, I'd probably have a hard time. Yeah, I guess if I had to kill a cow to eat a hamburger, I wouldn't do it. But I don't eat that much meat anyway, mostly fish.

Michael: When you've grown up and you're raised eating stuff like hamburger and steak and all that kind of stuff and it's a part of your life, and then you get out and realize all the negative consequences of that kind of eating lifestyle, it's a significant affect on your psyche. It's sort of odd in retrospect, thinking all of the harm I was doing to myself, to the planet and other people I didn't even know. My family had a really hard time dealing with it. Like my mom really thought I was slapping her in the face, that everything she had ever taught me was totally wrong.

Mr. Born again: According to the bible, Man has dominion over all the animals of the land, all the birds of the air and all of the fishes of the sea.

Interviewer:What makes you think dominion means domination? Dominion really means companionship and working together. Although I do not have much faith in the bible, the earliest scriptures tell us that plant foods were to be the only food for humans.

Mr. Born again: But the Disciples ate meat and Jesus gave out fish to the people.

Interviewer: There's a lot of evidence that says Jesus was a vegetarian and if you are just going to go by what you believe the bible says is true and correct, you might want to reconsider your position. The bible condoned the killing of women and children. So I guess if you believe in a violent god, then that's fine, but I choose to believe that acts of compassion and love are what really please God. And... in Genesis 1:29 God said, "Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the surface of all the earth, and every tree which has fruit yielding seed; it shall be food for you. And... the bible also says that thou shall not kill. It did not say thou shall not kill only humans.

Mr. Born again: OK, but what about all the references to eating meat in the bible and animal sacrifice pleasing God?

Interviewer: Again, If the god you believe in gets off on violent acts which cause pain and suffering to innocent creatures, then you have a demonic and evil god.

Mr. Born again: I feel sorry for you. You've been brainwashed by these animal rights wackos, God forgive you.

Interviewer: I've been brainwashed??? I'm not the one with blood on my hands and animal fat in my arteries. (Mr. Born again walks away)

Mr. Macho hunter: Man has been eating meat since the beginning of time, if it was unnatural it would have ended by now.

Interviewer: Man has been raping women and been causing wars since the beginning of time, so does that mean we should continue the practice of raping and warring? A lot of things happen since the beginning of time, but that doesn't make it right. Now with high tech slaughterhouses, now with serial killers and all sorts of insanity that man is creating in the world, you're going to tell me we should keep the violence going toward the animals? And after all you don't eat your dog or your cat, although in some countries they do. Why do you want to keep that violence going, why?

Mr. Macho hunter: Because I don't consider it violent. Have you ever been to a slaughterhouse?

Interviewer Yeah, I've been on the kill floor.

Mr. Macho hunter: I've worked in a slaughterhouse. They don't drag out the deaths of the animals, it's quick and painless and I'm also a hunter and I wouldn't kill anything that I wouldn't eat. I do not believe in suffering, I'm a good shot and the animals I have killed never knew what hit em'.

Interviewer: Let me ask you something, you say you do not believe in suffering and you believe the animals experience painless deaths?

Mr. Macho hunter: That's right.

Interviewer C'mon guy... wake up, your living in some kind of storybook fantasy. Put yourself in the place of the animals you speak of. Do you really think it's painless to have your throat cut? Do you really think it's painless to have a big piece of metal punched into your skull. Do you truly think animals don't suffer in factory farms? Look at this picture here, look at this pig laying in his own vomit. The story is that this pig was scared to death and treated very badly by people who planned to kill it so someone else could eat that misery. Do you really want to eat misery? Can you really say the pig in this picture did not suffer. That misery you see here ended up in somebody's mouth. Tell me hunter, what is it you like about the killing, what gets you off? Is it the thrill of taking a life away from a defenseless animal knowing there is little risk on your end? Is it the stalking, is it the actual kill, is it watching the animal die a painful death? And you know that you can never always kill animals painlessly. There's no such thing. So what is it, what is it you get off on, huh?

Mr. Macho hunter: I enjoy the nature of hunting.

Interviewer: You mean you like spending time in nature?

Mr. Macho hunter: Well, yeah.

Interviewer: Well why do you have to go into the woods with a gun to enjoy nature? Why can't you just grab some fruit to eat and sit under a tree and watch the deer and appreciate the magnificent miracle and uniqueness of these animals? See, you have proven my theory correct, that is that most hunters hunt because they want to feel that connection with nature. Well you don't have to have a gun in your hands to connect with nature. Why destroy nature when you are wanting to connect with it?

Mr. Macho hunter: You make some interesting points, but still, I eat everything I kill. I may destroy nature but I never waste it. I just kill enough to feed my family and myself. Don't look at the act, but the intent. The intent is that I want to keep my family nourished and well fed.

Interviewer: Well, you do not have to feed your family death to keep them nourished. Why can't you connect with nature and grow a garden. That way your desire to connect with nature and to feed yourself and your family are both met.

Mr. Macho hunter: It's not that simple, I was brought up a hunter, and I always will be.

Interviewer: Maybe you should go rent the movie Powder. There's a scene in that movie that might cause you to rethink how you were brought up.

Mr. Macho hunter: No movie can change my position. I am a hunter and I love to hunt. I am teaching my kids to hunt and they will teach their children too. It's in our family blood to hunt

Interviewer: It's in your blood to shed blood huh? Well what I want to know is what is in your heart and what are you teaching your children by raising them with violence against other living beings? Why do you want to teach these young innocent minds that they have to kill and be violent to live. Why not teach them about love and reverence for all life? Why not teach them about vegetarianism? Why not let them appreciate the animals by watching them instead of putting bullets into their heads?

Mr. Macho hunter: I've had enough of your love all the animals don't eat them crusade. People kill and eat animals, we are animals and we have the right to eat meat. I don't see the lion or shark debating whether they should eat a tofu burger or kill. Nature is disgusting and that's a reality, might as well accept it.

Interviewer: No, maybe you are disgusting. Nature is beautiful. (as hunter walks away) Humans have the choice to kill or not to kill, other animals don't. And you have chosen to be a barbaric heartless hunter. You won't be able to fool yourself forever, someday you will see it. You will see it in the eyes of an animal who is dying from the bullet you put into it. I want you to look deep into that animal's eyes and just try to fool yourself then.
